 Real estate is land and the improvements attached to the land.  Real estate includes your home, your burial plot, 2nd homes, rentals, and any vacation time shares that you own.  These are important assets.  Your real estate is probably the greatest investment you have made and is an investment in your future.  

In bankruptcy, real estate is property just like any other property and the trustee will be interested in its value and whether sale of the real estate will produce proceeds that can be used to pay unsecured creditors.  Is there a mortgage?  Are their other liens against the property?  Is there equity?
